Upcycle your wine bottles in time for Halloween with HappyVinyl
Spooky season is almost upon us, which means it's time to start decorating! The countdown is well and truly on, so we've put together a quick and simple guide for upcycling your empty wine bottles and transforming them into seriously spooky ornaments using self adhesive HappyVinyl.
For this projet all you need is:
- Empty wine bottles. (Remember to soak and remove the labels!)
- HappyVinyl. We used colours black, white and red gloss. (Sheets from 99p)
Step 1 First, draw your design onto the back of vinyl. Cut around your shape and set it aside. This is the ghost's body.
Step 2 We designed the next part of our creation using silhouette studio to ensure the ghost's eyes and mouth were perfectly round. Place your vinyl on the cutting mat shiny side up and send to cut.
Step 3 Weed out your design, then peel the paper layer of the vinyl off and stick the eyes and mouth onto the ghost's body.
Step 4 Cut enough HappyMask to cover your whole design. Peel off the paper side of the HappyMask and firmly stick it ontop of the design. Use your HappySqueegee to ensure there are no bubbles or creases.
Step 5 Once the design is stuck to the HappyMask you can then stick this to your bottle. Be sure that the bottle is completely dry!
Step 6 Carefully peel away the HappyMask to reveal your creation!
Step 7 Repeat these steps with your next design. We chose the words "trick or treat" using red gloss which we designed on sillhouette studio and cut with the machine.
For some finishing touches why not fill the bottles with some fairy lights. This is guaranteed to look extra scary through a dark window!
The self adhesive HappyVinyl is super easy to use and is suitable for beginner level crafters.
